Excelerate and 888 Race Engineering create formidable alliance
Having dominated the prestigious British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) for the past few years, 888 Race Engineering has now pulled further ahead of the competition by announcing a partnership with Excelerate Technology – a company which is also the leader of its field in the UK.

888 Race Engineering, which manages The VX Racing team on behalf of Vauxhall, has won 13 of the 18 available drivers’, manufacturers’ and Teams' titles in the past six years.

It has underlined its position as one of the most progressive organisations in motorsport by partnering with Excelerate which will be supplying Transportable Satellite Broadband VPN (TSBV) solutions on the team’s race trucks at all participating venues, events and tracks throughout Europe.

Franck Marie, Commercial and Marketing Director for Triple Eight added: “We are thoroughly delighted to have formed this partnership with what is probably the leading supplier of TSBV solutions in the UK.

“We were in need of a complete overhaul of how we communicated at race meetings, and I now feel that we have the complete solution which enables us to transfer information at speed and securely back to base from the track, whether that be for transmitting data or to consult technical drawings.”

Triple Eight Race Engineering, operating out of Motorsport Valley near Silverstone was formed in 1996, primarily to design, build and race the Super Touring Vectra on behalf of Vauxhall Motors. In 2001, the company undertook a development programme for the Astra Coupe which has resulted in unprecedented success in the BTCC.

David Savage, Chairman and CEO of Excelerate added: “We have reached an agreement whereby Triple Eight and Excelerate will work together in a joint sponsorship and technology partnership for the next two seasons and hopefully beyond.

“This will allow Triple Eight to improve its race management capabilities and hopefully its performance and cost effectiveness and it will also allow us to develop some solutions appropriate and perhaps more specific for the motorsport sector which we see as an important business market for us.

“The very nature of motorsport requires that everything is done quickly and privately, as a split-second is often the difference between success and failure.

“We will be installing our TSBV solution to enable fast and secure broadband via satellite which can be integrated with our wireless mesh, voice and video streaming technologies for the race teams at trackside – this is achieved within minutes of arriving at an event and the use of satellite ensures that location is never an issue.”
