The Joined Up, Digital Incident Ground
Excelerate Technology continues to pioneer the development of the joined up incident ground - satellite broadband systems, independent GSM network solutions, interoperable multi-channel voice solutions and live video delivery platforms (including rapid deployment cameras such as optical zoom and dual
thermal cameras, body-worn cameras and the unique Sherpa ‘climbing camera’ Surveillance System).

Tripod Camera
Rapid deployment wireless cameras deliver greatly improved video imagery (using COFDM wireless transmission), including high quality footage from within buildings and tunnels, to incident commanders. The continuous rotation, ruggedised wireless camera solution is designed for rapid deployment as well as being operated separately on a tripod. It can also be vehiclemounted or fitted to a high-reach aerial platform or a combined aerial rescue pump. A high resolution optical zoom camera and a sensitive dual-thermal imaging camera are combined in one remote head to deliver images at up to 2km distance using COFDM Video and controlled by UHF Telemetry. Live video streams from the camera can be viewed at the incident by Silver commanders (both in the incident command vehicle and on hand-held and portable devices) and can also be streamed back to the control room via broadband satellite. .

Incident Imagery
Major incidents, often across wide areas and of long duration, place huge demands on emergency management organisations, either when working alone or, as is often the case, in partnership with other agencies. This high pressure environment can be made much worse if clear command communications are not set up and maintained within a very short period from the arrival of emergency services. Excelerate Technology’s proven solutions deliver communications support for the saving of life, the protection of property and resources, and the early re-establishment of business continuity through the optimum use of advanced integrated technologies supporting the sharing of a Common Operational Picture.

Body-Worn Camera
Excelerate supplies body-worn camera solutions that utilise a variety of transmission standards including COFDM, Wireless, GSM, and 3G to suit the purpose and levels of resilience required. These deliver on-the-spot coverage and awareness to all relevant parties involved in an incident.

Sherpa Camera
The Sherpa Surveillance System (or ‘climbing camera’) enables wireless video cameras and other devices such as communications aerials for TETRA or GSM, WiFi access points and 3G routers to be positioned high up on different types and sizes of lampposts and poles for establishing improved live viewing of a wide range of different types of incidents. The Operating Platform Unit can carry robust wireless PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) video cameras linked to command vehicles, or other command equipment.

Satellite Broadband
Satellite broadband delivers critical, robust, high bandwidth communications capacity within 5 minutes of arrival at an incident, and with BGAN receivers broadband can even be used for receiving data during transit. Mission-critical applications, such as command information systems, can be rapidly made operational, sharing essential incident information throughout an incident ground, between multiple agencies and back to headquarters. Excelerate operates its satellite services under a Virtual Network Operator Licence, which means that it can buy unshared satellite capacity and allocate it to customers as determined by their requirements. Recent cost reductions mean that pointto- point services (where information is passed directly via satellite, bypassing the internet for ultimate security and resilience) are more economically viable.

Excelerate’s Communications Management Solution
Excelerate’s Communications Management Solution (ECMS) provides a fully integrated and functional satellite and GSM PBX to deliver seamless connectivity between different types of systems. ECMS can patch and record every voice device being pushed through it, and users of VOIP handsets, GSM phones, VHF, UHF and Airwave handsets can all be connected to each other.
