EXCELERATE TECHNOLOGY WINS MAJOR INNOVATION AWARD

Excelerate Technology was amongst the prize winners of the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards 2009, which are designed to honour innovative projects involving telecoms operators and service providers around the world, in association with their vendors and suppliers.

The 2009 Awards were presented on Tuesday June 16 at a black-tie dinner held at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London. Excelerate Technology was presented with the Vehicle Services Innovation Award in recognition of the vehicle-based mobile networks that it has supplied to emergency services customers throughout the UK.

Excelerate Technology introduced the concept of providing emergency response vehicles with their own independent GSM networks using RapidNet, a Private Mobile Network (PMN) solution developed by TeleWare, the UK’s leading supplier of intelligent communications solutions.  RapidNet enables mobile incident response vehicles to carry their own GSM network delivering full telecoms capabilities irrespective of the presence or capability of any incumbent national cellular network.  Excelerate remains one of the few companies with the expertise to make this work properly.

Particular mention was made of the Department of Health’s HART (Hazardous Area Response Teams) programme for which Excelerate Technology was appointed technology supplier nationally.  This programme is delivering a new generation of civil contingency vehicles equipped to provide high levels of real-time information and resilient communications, integrating voice, video and data technologies to enhance patient and victim care at major incidents.

Award nominations for the most innovative projects came from readers of Global Telecoms Business magazine, which was founded in 1993 and is published for senior executives in the industry worldwide.

Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of GTB::

“We were impressed by the quality and number of nominations this year, the most we have ever had, so it was a special triumph to be one of the winners this year.  This was an outstanding project and well deserves its award,” commented Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business.  “This project stood out, even though the competition was strong, and it just had to be one of the winners.  Well done to all involved,”
