Excelerate Technology Ltd is delighted to report a fantastic first three days of September 2008 starting with the company becoming ISO 9001 accredited on the 1st September and finishing with a blistering two days of activity at the National Association of Police Fleet Managers Show 2008, held for the first time at the larger site of Cheltenham’s magnificent home of National Hunt Racing.

Excelerate dominated the show with its provision of satellite broadband equipped incident command and communications vehicles exhibiting a Landrover Discovery, a Ford Transit, a Mercedes long wheel based Sprinter,  and Iveco 6.5 Ton coach build and a Mercedes 15 Ton coach build. Excelerate presented a full set of NHS HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) Vehicles, which are to be rolled out nationally throughout the UK over the next three to four years. This included the most technically sophisticated and comprehensively equipped Mobile Incident Response Unit ever deployed in Europe, along side its equipment carriers and is recognised as the largest contract ever placed for such vehicles amongst any of the blue light services in Europe.

Flanking these was the larger 15 ton major incident command unit belonging to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Built with a proportion of the HART unit’s technology, this larger vehicle is configured to allow greater on board conferencing coupled with an operational area designed specifically to increase RBFRS’s resilience in the event of their central control rooms ever being compromised, allowing the mobile unit to take over as part of their business continuity strategy.

Within the Emergency Services Village, Excelerate proudly presented Kent Fire and Rescue Services Ford Transit mobile incident unit, completed in time for NAPFM, and handed over to John West of KFRS at the end of the show. Similarly the first of four Mercedes Sprinter based incident command vehicles was on display prior to being shipped to the GARDA in Dublin. Deployment and training is due to take place within the following weeks to a delighted GARDA who were present throughout the show to discuss operational requirements and also engage Excelerate in much deeper discussions to enhance their operational delivery.

CEO of Excelerate David Savage commented: “The values and volume of live projects discussed at this show even took us by surprise, but thanks to the fantastic facilities we had and even more importantly the sheer range of vehicles we are able to bring together that actually demonstrate what we do, we seemed to cope very well whilst keeping our clients and prospects in comfortable but relevant surroundings. This was also the first time perhaps that the market could envisage what a multi agency command village might look like at a large scale incident and how interoperability can be delivered.

We are now following up our presence at the show by inviting attendees and anyone else to our free ‘Technology and Applications Workshop’ to be held at our Cardiff HQ. The relaxed and undisturbed surroundings provide all the facilities that may aid our clients and prospects in determining better capability where mobility and remote working should not be a disadvantage compared to headquarters based colleagues. Here they can also see first hand how we manage and deliver the different bearers for their applications”.
