Excelerate Technology Ltd was founded in 2001 by Chief Executive David Savage, a highly experienced communications professional who identified at an early stage the potential of satellite broadband for use in the emergency management, government, sport, and corporate communications sectors. Since its establishment, and through an active program of rapid technological development and strong customer commitment, the company has rapidly become the UK market leader in the provision of Video/Voice/Data and Internet over Satellite and Wireless solutions on board a variety of vehicles and within a growing range of market sectors.
There is also now increasing interest on some of the unique solutions the company’s technology division has developed and pioneered, including the integration of satellite broadband and wireless technologies, independent GSM systems, advanced wireless cameras (dual thermal and body-worn) and communications interoperability with the Digital Dashboard Management Interface.
The company has also been a pioneer in the development of highly competitive satellite broadband pricing plans, allowing budget conscious emergency services, government agencies and others to introduce satellite broadband systems to improve performance and save money.
Excelerate Technology Ltd is headquartered on a two-acre private site within a secure technology park fifteen minutes drive from Junction 28 of the M4 at St. Mellons, Cardiff, Wales. Within the 9000 square feet facility are the
R & D Centre, distribution, installation and technical engineering functions, and it is from this location that the company runs its Network Operations Centre for private satellite and GSM networks. One of the company’s key differentiators is that its business model determines that it handles every stage of delivery, support and management and does not subcontract these elements out.
The company moved its operations to Cardiff in March 2006 as part of a £2 million equity investment package made by SME investment company, Finance Wales. Finance Wales owns a substantial stake in the company, and the balance and options are or will be owned by all of the company’s employees.
The company’s turnover has grown strongly year on year, boosting profitability and employment. There is a strong contracted order book worth many millions of pounds with government clients such as the national ambulance service HART contract.
